Crisis and Connection

FUTURISTIC TURN
OF K-HUMANITIES

We read the core of the practices of overcoming crisis that have emerged in Korea and East Asia as ‘connection’.

01

Identifying the Value of Connection

Taking ‘connection’ as its central concept, this team captures the character of the relations formed among those who respond to crisis, and identifies the values such movements have realized.

02

A K-Humanities Platform

Pursuing an integrated model of research and education through multilingual and multiregional connection, it builds a platform for K-Humanities as posthumanities.

03

Making Knowledge Public

Through a range of public programmes it advances the sharing of knowledge with civil society and problem-solving engagement with the world.

# Civilizational Transformation# Responsibility of Knowing# Transversal Connection# Posthumanities

K-Humanities problematizes the situation of Korea and East Asia, which face not merely an epochal shift but a sweeping, fundamental ‘civilizational transformation’. It commits itself to a responsibility of knowing that intervenes actively in the social and global problems that crisis brings to light.

‘Crisis and Connection’ grasps in full the reality of the crises K-Humanities must meet, seeks theory from the standpoint of transversal ‘connection’, and, by cultivating scholarship’s power to discern reality and answer its problems, builds practical, future-oriented posthumanities.
